how a chip-backed coin works, end to end.

every coin on zilicon is a curve quoted in tokenized semiconductor stock. this page is the whole mechanism, including what it does not do.

1. backing

single / basket

a founder backs a coin with one listed chip stock, or with a basket: a token minted 1:1 against a fixed proportion of two to six listed stocks. presets exist for convenience; custom weights are allowed.

one basket unit is sized at about one dollar of components on the day it is created. the proportions never change afterwards.

2. launch

pay in ZEC, no wallet

the founder names the coin, chooses the backing and sends ZEC to the address shown. the coin launches by itself, usually within about 15 minutes of the payment confirming, and a curve opens whose quote asset is the chosen backing.

there is no wallet to connect. if the payment is short or never arrives, the ZEC goes back to the refund address the founder gave.

3. buying

stock in / coins out

a buy moves backing into the curve and coins out to the buyer. the price rises along the curve with each buy.

for a basket-backed coin the buyer approves the component stocks and signs one transaction: the components are pulled, the basket is minted, and the curve buy happens in the same call.

4. selling and redeeming

coins in / stock out

a sell moves coins into the curve and backing out to the seller. for a basket-backed coin the basket is unwound in the same transaction and the component stocks arrive in the seller’s wallet.

anyone holding basket units directly can redeem them 1:1 for the components at any time.

5. the raise target

two outcomes

each curve has a raise target. what happens there depends on the backing.

a single-stock coin on NVDA, AMD, TSM, MU, INTC, MRVL or SNDK leaves its curve at the target and its liquidity moves to a Uniswap pool.

a basket-backed coin, or a single-stock coin on ASML, SMCI or SOXX, does not migrate. it keeps trading on its curve for good. hitting the target there is the point at which the founder can claim the creator fee that has accrued.

7. what zilicon is not

read this

it is not a broker, a custodian or an issuer of the stocks. the tokenized stocks are third-party tokens on Robinhood Chain and carry their own terms and risks.

a coin can fall to the value of what is left in its curve. the backing stocks move on their own. nothing here is insured, guaranteed, audited by a third party, or advice.
